The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch assured that “promising prospects” await the aviation sector in Morocco, especially since large international companies are ready to continue this important industrial process laid out by King Mohammed VI.

In a press statement on the sidelines of a visit on Wednesday to the aeronautical center of Nouaceur (Casablanca), the Chief Executive expressed all his enthusiasm with these words: “Today we are on new perspectives with regard to to the presence of great potential in this sector”.

He added that the aeronautical industry in Morocco has experienced “continuous development” since the Sovereign, who attaches great interest to this important industry, launched this sector at the national level two decades ago.

This development, he continued, is illustrated in particular in the presence of a major technological change that the sector is experiencing, and the presence of quality investments from large international groups.

“In 2020, the movement of the aircraft fleet around the world has stopped. It was said then that this industry had ceased definitively”, but it is the opposite which is currently happening, said Akhannouch, who recalled, by way of example, that the national aeronautical sector recorded a growth of 60% during the first five months of 2022, as well as the results obtained have improved compared to the pre-pandemic period in 2019.

He also noted the importance of this situation which reflects the presence of national skills, executives and technicians, adding that “the secret of success in this sector is the training of young people” which the professionals of the sector ensure and the Moroccan state. Thanks to cutting-edge technology, the work of young people and other factors, “Morocco has been able to succeed in this sector”, welcomed the Head of Government.

The Head of Government’s visit to the Nouaceur aeronautical center included the “Safran” industrial and technological group, specializing in the fields of aeronautics, space and defence, “Midparc Casablanca Free Zone” and the aeronautical trades (IMA) specializing in the field of training.

Explanations on the work of the different units and the advanced technology used in the production of aircraft parts were presented to Akhannouch who was accompanied by the Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies , Mohcine Jazouli, and industry professionals.

It should be noted that the industrial and technological group “Safran”, specialized in the fields of aeronautics, space and defence, inaugurated, on Tuesday in Casablanca, the extension of its Safran Nacelles Morocco site dedicated to the production aircraft nacelles.

This 6,000 m2 extension will be reserved for the production of nacelles for the Airbus A320 Neo and the high-end Gulfstream G700/G800 business jets.
