The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch chaired, this Thursday in Rabat, the 10th meeting of the Ministerial Commission in charge of Moroccans residing abroad (MRE) and migration affairs. On this occasion, he reiterated the government’s commitment to meet the expectations of Moroccans around the world.
A press release from the department of the head of government specifies that this meeting was an opportunity to present the conclusions of the work of the thematic committees which have considered the development of an executive program for the implementation of the royal directives contained in the speech of King Mohammed VI on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the Revolution of the King and the People.
In this sense, Akhannouch recalled the high solicitude with which the sovereign surrounds the affairs of MREs, underlining the government’s commitment to the implementation of the provisions and measures contained in the 2021-2026 government program, aimed at meeting the expectations and aspirations of the Moroccan community established abroad.
In this regard, he called on all the parties concerned to speed up the pace of implementation of the various provisions provided for in the executive program relating to the implementation of the content of the royal speech, so as to meet the expectations of MREs, in particular in terms of preserving their rights and interests, simplifying and digitizing administrative procedures and services, promoting skills and talents from the Moroccan community residing abroad and facilitating access to investment for Moroccans living abroad in the motherland.
For his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad, Nasser Bourita specified that within the framework of the interaction with the content of the royal speech of August 20, 2022, and following the recommendations of the 9th meeting of the ministerial commission, held on August 30, 2022, during which it was decided to set up thematic committees in charge of developing an executive program bringing together the various measures relating to the implementation of the high instructions concerning the Moroccans of the world, the technical commission held its 10th meeting on November 14, 2022 for the constitution of these committees.
These are the committees for the promotion of investments of Moroccans living abroad in the Kingdom, the mobilization of Moroccan skills abroad, the promotion of administrative services and rights of Moroccans living abroad, the consolidation of identity and the rehabilitation and modernization of the institutional framework.
To this end, Bourita recalled the action of the thematic committees which were able to hold 16 meetings, thanks to the mobilization and involvement of the various departments and public and private establishments concerned, in place of the holding of a new meeting of the technical commission on January 17, 2023, devoted to the presentation and examination of the recommendations resulting from the work of these committees.
The meeting was attended by members of the commission and representatives of various departments and public and private establishments.
