The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, visited Friday, June 16, 2023, a series of social and economic projects and supervised the signing of development agreements in the province of Ouarzazate. These activities are part of the continuation of the field visit by the Head of Government to the Draa-Tafilalet region, with a view to supporting development efforts at the regional level, in accordance with the will of the King Mohammad VI.
Within the framework of the particular interest that the government attaches to the health sector, through the radical reform of the national health system and the strengthening of local services offered to citizens with a view to supporting the work of generalizing medical coverage, Aziz Akhannouch visited the Sidi Hssaien Provincial Hospital Center in Ouarzazate, which benefited from extension and upgrading works at a cost of 123 million dirhams, including the opening of a new block operating room and a new intensive care unit. Aziz Akhannouch then followed the presentation of the project to create a multidisciplinary hospital in the province.
The Head of Government also presided over the signing ceremony of a series of regional conventions relating to the development of mountain tourism and oases in the province of Ouarzazate, for a total cost of 283 million dirhams.
In this context, the projects of the 2023-2024 emergency program for the development of mountain tourism and oases in the province of Ouarzazate were presented, with a budget of 102 million dirhams and relating to the upgrading of world-renowned tourist sites (2nd installment), the development of sports tourism circuits in the oases, the promotion of crafts and on tourism circuits around the geological and mining heritage.
Aziz Akhannouch also followed the presentation of programs relating to the promotion of tourist offers in Ouarzazate, the enhancement of tourism in the Kasbah of Taourirt, the support of artisanal carpet weaving in Tazenakht, in addition to the program relating to the industry film in the city of Ouarzazate.
The Head of Government also supervised the signing of agreements relating to the creation of projects in the sector of higher education, scientific research and innovation, including a partnership agreement relating to the development of a university in Ouarzazate, a project which is part of the strengthening of the quality of higher education in the region and the improvement of indicators of access to university establishments.
A partnership agreement was also signed as part of the development of the first phase of the university center of Ouarzazate, relating to the construction and equipment of the Higher School of Technology for a cost of 70 million dirhams. In the same context, the Head of Government visited the Institute of Applied Hotel and Tourism Technology.
Aziz Akhannouch’s visit to the Draa-Tafilalet region at the head of a large ministerial delegation, which the city of Errachidia began on Thursday, is in line with the High Royal Guidelines and the provisions of the government program, aimed at to enshrine regionalization as a development choice and to contribute to reducing spatial and social disparities. It also enshrines government policy aimed at strengthening the policy of proximity to citizens, as a pillar of development in our country, through the effective participation of regions and local authorities in the creation of integrated development.
