Akhannouch calls for completing the process of implementing the official character of Amazigh

The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, called for completing the process of implementing the official character of Amazigh.

Receiving the promotion of social workers for the year 2022, Akhannouch stressed that the realization of this societal project consists in the integration of Amazigh in all aspects of public life and the mobilization of human, logistical and funding for the implementation of the organic law on the Amazigh language.

The government is attached to the implementation of the official character of the Amazigh, he said, specifying that this national project enjoys the high royal solicitude, and this interest has been crowned by the constitutional recognition of the whole cultural and linguistic heritage of the Moroccan people as an essential component of national unity.

Until Amazigh is adopted as a language in the field of justice, this initiative, announced last January, confirms the government’s commitment to speed up the implementation of procedures for promoting this project, a- he underlined, adding that among these measures are the provision of translation mechanisms from and to Amazigh during investigation, pleading, testimony, notification, appeal and enforcement procedures, as well as the training of social workers to support citizens in the languages ​​they speak.

In this regard, the Head of Government commended the tireless efforts of the Ministry of Justice in this area, stressing the need to take all possible measures to activate the official character of Amazigh within other ministerial departments and public institutions, and to use it within the administration, both in writing and orally, in the service of citizens.

For his part, the Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi, affirmed that this experiment aims to entrust a greater role to social workers in facilitating the access of litigants, children and the elderly to judicial institutions, recalling the national efforts in terms of judicial reform, and in particular of the ministry in strengthening mechanisms for the protection of women and children.

He stressed the importance of social workers to guarantee the conditions of a fair trial and to accompany them through training in order to enrich their knowledge and develop their communication skills, noting that a large part of this promotion speaks Amazigh and Hassani and will benefit from legal training to facilitate his work and improve the services provided to users.

Ghita Mezzour, Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, for his part considered that the project to recruit social workers was supported by the ministry through the Amazigh Support Fund.

Citizens speaking the Amazigh language will be accompanied by specialist assistants in this field, she pointed out, noting that these are 100 social workers, 60% of whom speak the Amazigh and Hassanian languages, who will undergo training in three weeks before making a final assessment for assignment to the courts of the Kingdom.

On the sidelines of this ceremony, laptops were given to new social workers to help them in their work and continuing education as well as in the internships they will follow as part of the Kingdom’s vision for the adoption of digital courts. in order to improve the judicial service.
