After Busquets, Jordi Alba leaves Barça

FC Barcelona, reigning La Liga champions, announced on Wednesday the departure of their left-back Jordi Alba.

A press release from the Catalan club thus indicated that “Jordi Alba and FC Barcelona have reached an agreement to terminate the contract which united the player to the club until the end of the 2023-2024 season”.

“FC Barcelona wishes to publicly express its gratitude to Jordi Alba for the professionalism, commitment, dedication and positivism he has always shown towards all those who make up the Blaugrana family, and wishes him good luck and much success in the future,” Barca added.

Alba, the second player to leave the ranks of the Catalans at the end of this season after captain Busquets, won a Champions League (2015), six Spanish championships (2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2023) and five King’s Cups (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2021).

In 458 matches at Barça, Alba, a Spanish international with 91 caps, scored 27 goals and delivered 99 assists.
