African Lion 2023 Exercise Final Planning Meeting

On the High Instructions of the King, Supreme Chief and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the final planning meeting of the “African Lion 2023” exercise was held at the level of the South Zone General Staff in Agadir from April 12 to 16, 2023.

During this meeting, the representatives of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) and the Armed Forces of the United States of America focused on the finalization of the modalities of execution of the various activities planned within the framework of the 19th edition of the “African Lion” exercise, indicates a press release from the General Staff of the FAR.

The 19th edition of this major event will see the participation of nearly 6,000 soldiers from around twenty African and international countries, including Morocco and the United States, as well as 27 observer countries, the same source points out.

The joint operations and manoeuvres, carried out jointly by the FAR and the partner countries, in various operational, land, airborne, airborne, maritime and CBRN decontamination (nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical) fields, essentially aim to develop interoperability and to strengthen intervention capacities in a multinational framework, explains the press release.

Scheduled from May 22 to June 16, 2023 in the regions of Agadir, Tan-Tan, Mehbes, Tiznit, Kenitra, Benguerir and Tifnit, the “African Lion 2023” exercise remains an unmissable event which contributes to consolidating military cooperation. Moroccan-American and to strengthen the exchange between the armed forces of different countries in order to promote security and stability in the region.
