Adoption of a draft decree fixing the rates of tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide in cigarettes

The draft decree n ° 2.21.235, fixing the maximum rates of tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide in cigarettes, was adopted by the Government Council, meeting this Monday in videoconference mode.

This draft decree, specifies a press release published at the end of the Council meeting, intervenes in application of article 25 of law n ° 46.02 relating to the regime of raw and manufactured tobacco, to stipulate the compulsory inscription on each packet. of manufactured tobacco the percentage of carbon monoxide, in addition to the data related to the percentages of tar and nicotine.

The aim is to align national legislation with international standards in terms of maximum limits for the above chemicals.
