The national agency for the fight against illiteracy (ANLCA) adopted, on Wednesday during the meeting of its board of directors, a new roadmap for the period 2023-2029, aimed in particular at gradually reducing the illiteracy rate. with a view to eradicating it by 2029.
Through the adoption of this roadmap, which is part of the implementation of the High Guidelines of King Mohammed VI calling for the reform of the education and training system and the definitive eradication of illiteracy, the Agency aims to support the execution of development projects in the field of the fight against illiteracy in relation to the principle of lifelong learning.
Speaking on this occasion, the Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, Chakib Benmoussa, indicated that the implementation of the new roadmap will strengthen the management mechanisms of the Agency and mobilize many partners to meet needs and diversify and improve the offer in the fight against illiteracy.
Thanks to the Agency’s efforts, 5.5 million people, of both sexes, have benefited from literacy and post-literacy programs since 2017, the minister said, stressing the need to intensify efforts and accelerate the pace of achievements to achieve the general objective, included in the new ANLCA roadmap, of reducing the illiteracy rate to a level allowing its eradication by 2029.
The Agency has prepared, using a participatory approach, a new roadmap for the period from 2023 to 2027, the development of which was led by the various partners and actors in this field, he explained, adding that this roadmap is part of the implementation of the Royal Highs calling for the reform of the education and training system and the definitive eradication of illiteracy.
This new roadmap insists on the fact that the fight against illiteracy is the basis of any lifelong learning path, in accordance with the provisions of the framework law 51.17, continued Benmoussa, specifying that the ANLCA aims to support the pace of execution of development projects in the field of the fight against illiteracy in relation to the principle of lifelong learning and undertakes to contribute to the implementation of two royal initiatives for the aftermath of the 7th International Conference on Adult Education “CONFINTEA VII”, contained in the message addressed by the Sovereign to the participants in this conference.
The Minister, on this occasion, congratulated all the speakers for the success of CONFINTEA VII, while praising the quality of the coordination of the work of this conclave.
For his part, the director of the ANLCA, Abdelouadoud Kharbouch, presented a detailed presentation in which he shed light on the assessment of the roadmap for the period 2017-2021, as well as the assessment of the action of the Agency for the year 2021-2022 and the action program for the period 2021-2023.
The ANLCA is determined, through the new roadmap, to eradicate illiteracy, in coordination with the various actors in this field through a participatory approach to programs to combat illiteracy and its continuous adaptation according to needs. beneficiaries.
The same goes for the representative of the General Union of Moroccan Workers (UGTM), Youssef Allakouch, who stressed the importance of adopting a new roadmap to eradicate illiteracy in Morocco, noting the need to take into account the convergence component in the implementation of this project.
For his part, the representative of the Moroccan Labor Union (UMT), Mohamed Aoulout, welcomed the organization by Morocco, as the first Arab and African country, of the “CONFINTEA VII” and for the great success of this event, evoking in this respect the praise given by the international community during the Marrakech Conference to the distinguished Moroccan experience in the field of literacy.
He noted, however, that despite the considerable efforts made by Morocco in the fight against illiteracy and adult education and the Agency’s successful projects in this area which have improved the literacy rate in Morocco, it “remains insufficient”.
For his part, the director of the directorate of traditional education and the fight against illiteracy in mosques, Mubarak Bitha, dwelt on the essential role played by the ANLCA in the fight against illiteracy in Morocco. , considering that the implementation of this strategy and the achievement of the expected results require the mobilization of the efforts of the various partners and actors.
The work of this session was devoted to the presentation of the results of the Agency’s achievements, and the prospects for its action for the coming period, according to a new roadmap, drawn up with the participation of the various partners and actors in this domain.
