On May 25, doctors in the public sector will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the historic march of dignity which took place in 2011. The independent union of public sector doctors in Morocco takes the opportunity to announce a national strike of 48 hours on Tuesday. May 25 and Wednesday 26, with the exception of intensive care and intensive care services. A sit-in in Rabat in front of the Ministries of Health and Finance is also planned, accompanied by a national march, the date of which will be announced later by the union.
This escalation of doctors in the public sector comes as no surprise. The independent union of doctors in the public sector continues to publish press releases calling on the government to speed up the production of the claim file like other health personnel files. A series of collective resignations among doctors in the public sector has also been observed over the past two years. But in vain.
” The government has opted for silence and has chosen to renounce its responsibilities, rather than to treat positively the case of doctors, pharmacists and dental surgeons, thus ignoring the catastrophic situation and the collapse of the health sector in our dear country.“, Supported the union in a statement announcing the national strike of 48 hours.
To commemorate May 25 as it should be, and apart from the announced strike, sit-in and march, the independent union of public sector doctors is unveiling a series of forms of protest.
It’s about »Boycott of surgical campaigns “That the union qualifies “Random and not respecting generally accepted medical standards, and patient safety conditions“, The pursuit of collective and individual resignations from the ranks of doctors, but also the boycott of the school health campaign due to the absence of minimum medical and administrative standards.
But not only ! The same union intends to continue to impose the scientific conditions necessary for medical practice and sterilization conditions in health establishments and operating theaters with the exception of urgent cases only, thus announcing the boycott of medical pills, autopsies, medical caravans and all non-medical administrative work (reports, statistics, etc.) with the wearing of the black coat and the 509 armband, to recall one of their main requests, which is the revision of the 509 salary index.
This is not the first time that the independent union of public sector doctors has announced such a busy schedule. The same escalation was observed in October 2020, when doctors also observed a 48-hour national strike and announced the same forms of protest.
What about the national vaccination campaign?
Concerned about the importance of the national vaccination campaign to fight the pandemic, and despite the workload that has weighed on them since the start of the health crisis in the Kingdom, the independent union of public sector doctors in Morocco announces its commitment to make this campaign a success by working only during the five working and legal days of the week, from Monday to Friday, thus calling on the Ministry of Health to end work on Saturdays in order to preserve the efficiency of human resources.
