94,000 jobs created in industry since the beginning of the government’s mandate

About 94,000 net jobs have been created in the industry sector since the beginning of the government’s mandate, said Wednesday in Casablanca, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour.

Speaking at the opening of the 1st edition of National Industry Day, organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, at the initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the General Confederation des Entreprises du Maroc (CGEM), Mezzour said that the industry sector has set itself the goal of creating 410,000 jobs, reporting the creation of approximately 94,000 net jobs in the sector since the beginning of the mandate of the government.

Thus, he insisted on the importance of introducing new professions, strengthening our capacities in terms of technology and technical infrastructure, research and development and accelerating the decarbonization of our industry.

On the export side, Mezzour specified that 86% of our exports of goods in value are processed products, noting that record levels have been reached in the export of vehicles with more than 110 billion dirhams (MMDH), 40 billion dirhams in textiles, more than 40 billion dirhams in the food industry, and more than 20 billion dirhams in aeronautics.

Returning to the speech of King Mohammed VI addressed to the participants of the 1st edition of the National Day of Industry, the Minister underlined that he has paved the way towards bold and ambitious objectives, noting in this regard that the Sovereign has insisted on the concept of sovereignty, as an objective and as a means, in addition to the heart of all the battles, which is the creation of jobs.

In this sense, he highlighted the King’s call to ensure quality training for young people, to meet new needs, within the framework of a stronger public-private partnership.

In addition, the Minister said that this national day is a common idea with the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) with the aim of setting an appointment to be able to take stock of the achievements and project the future.

The inaugural session of this Day was marked by a Royal message, which was read by Mezzour.

This event, which brings together the ministries, institutions concerned, professional federations and private operators, will serve as a platform for discussion on the strategic development issues of the sector and the priorities of the new industrial strategy.

The National Day of Industry, the next editions of which will be broken down into regions in order to highlight local industrial potential and deal with specific associated issues, will be included in the global calendar of economic events, as an appointment for annual reference of Industry in Morocco.

On the program for this Day, 5 panels around “levers to strengthen industrial competitiveness”, “local integration and made in Morocco”, “skills in industrial sectors”, “decarbonization and energy and water efficiency for the industry”, and the “financing of productive investment”.

The opening of this Day took place in the presence in particular of the Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, the Minister Delegate in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, Mohcine Jazouli and the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohammed Abdeljalil.
