Sales of new cars in Morocco stood at 81,419 units at the end of June 2023, down 2.88% compared to the same period a year earlier, according to monthly statistics from the Association of Vehicle Importers in Morocco. Morocco (AIVAM).
By segment, the number of new passenger vehicle (PC) registrations reached 74,227 units in the first six months of this year, down 1.27%, while that of light commercial vehicles (LCV) amounted to 7,192 units (-16.87%), specifies AIVAM.
The “Dacia” brand still dominates the PC segment, with a market share of 23.73%, i.e. 17,614 units sold at the end of June 2023, followed by Renault which sold 11,888 units (market share of 16.02%) and Hyundai (8,969 units and 12.08% market share), said the same source.
In the LCV segment, Renault sold 1,600 units (22.25% market share), ahead of DFSK which sold 1,104 vehicles (15.35% market share) and Ford with 817 units (11.36% market share).
For the month of June alone, AIVAM reports an increase in overall sales of 3.39% to 17,394 units, covering, in detail, an increase of 4.52% with 15,862 units sold for the VP segment and a drop 6.98% with 1,532 units sold for the LCV segment.
