The volume of electric energy produced at the national level increased by 6.9% at the end of August 2021 year-on-year, after a drop of 6.3% a year earlier, according to the Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF ) under the authority of the Ministry of the Economy and Finance.
This volume thus exceeds its pre-crisis level by 0.1%, observes the DEPF in its latest economic report, adding that this improvement was encouraged by the increase in private production by 5.9%, from that of ONEE of 11.2% and that of renewable energies relating to Law 13-09 of 4.7%.
For the first two months of the third quarter of 2021, the national production of electric energy strengthened by 4.2% after an increase of 15.5% in Q2-2021, indicates the DEPF, explaining this improvement by the increase in private production by 5.9%, that of ONEE by 11.2% and that of renewable energies relating to Law 13-09 by 4.7%.
Regarding the consumption of electric energy, it increased by 4%, year-on-year, for the months of July and August 2021, after an increase of 16.6% in the second quarter and a decline of 1% in the first quarter of 2021, recording an increase from its pre-crisis level of 5.6%, 3.5% and 0.7% respectively, continues the same source.
At the end of August 2021, sales of electric power had strengthened by 6.4% year-on-year, after a decline of 3.2% a previous year, taking into account a performance of energy sales of “very high, high and medium voltage, excluding distributors ”by + 12.7%, those intended for distributors by + 4.9% and those intended for households by + 2.1%.
