Fortune 500 Arabia unveiled its 2023 top Arab companies list, featuring 33 Moroccan companies in the top 500 and five in the top 100.
OCP Groupe ranked 22 on the list, making it Morocco’s first official entry, with almost 20.000 employees, with a total of almost 22 million dollars in assets.
Attijariwafa Bank ranked 47, followed by Banque Central Populaire in the 68 spot, and Bank of Africa in the 90 spot.
Following closely behind is Total Enegies Marketing Maroc, placed 96. Because of these companies, Morocco has five noticeable entries in the ranking’s top 100.
The list goes on, as 33 companies claimed a spot in Frtune Arabia’s top 500 Arab companies.
Label Vie, Cosumar, Managem, Afriquia Gaz, LafargeHolcim Maroc, Leisieur Crystal, and more made the cut.
Saudi Arabia topped the Fortune list with the most companies, accounting for 153 of the 500, or 30% of the total.
The United Arab Emirates came in second with 17%, followed by Egypt, Kuwait, and Qatar. While Saudi Arabian corporations had the biggest percentage of revenue and profits among Fortune 500 companies, the UAE had the highest proportion of the list’s top 100 profitable companies.
The Fortune list for this year featured the top 500 Arab businesses from 22 Arab nations. Based on their combined revenues, which reached approximately $1.6 trillion in 2022 and generated a $343 billion profit, these firms have been ranked. 9% of the enterprises were private and not listed on financial exchanges.
The list has been compiled by Fortune magazine from its headquarters in New York since 1955 and lists the 500 biggest American businesses according to revenue. Concurrently, the publication features Fortune 500 Global, an assemblage that arranges the top 500 global corporations according to their earnings.
