The production index of manufacturing industries excluding petroleum refining recorded an increase of 3.3% in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP).
This development results in particular from the increase in the production index of “food industries” by 8.9%, that of “electrical equipment manufacturing” by 22.7%, and that of “metallurgy” by 16.1%, that of the “wood industry” of 30.2%, that of the “clothing industry” of 6.8%, that of the “pharmaceutical industry” of 8, 8%, explains the HCP in a note on the industrial, energy and mining production index (IPIEM) for the third quarter of 2021.
It is also the result of the increase in the indices of the textile industry by 11.5%, the manufacture of metal products by 5.1%, the manufacture of rubber and plastic products by 7.5%, the leather industry. and footwear 11.0%, machinery and equipment manufacturing 10.4%, printing 14.0%, and other non-metallic mineral products manufacturing 5.3%.
On the other hand, the index of the “automobile industry” recorded a decrease of 11.8%, that of the “chemical industry” by 3.3% and that of “other manufacturing industries” by 9.1%. , informs the HCP.
In addition, the index of production of extractive industries recorded an increase of 5.8%, resulting from the increase of the index of production of other extractive industries by 5.8% and that of the 6.0% metal ore mining. For its part, the electric power production index recorded an increase of 4%.
