The prestigious Michelin Guide published its new ranking of the most distinguished restaurants in Spain on Tuesday. Some 250 establishments have been recognized as the best in the world.
In fact, Spain will now have 13 restaurants with three Michelin stars, 3 new restaurants with two stars and 29 new restaurants with one Michelin star.
After two blank years for the highest award, this year Spain again has two three-star restaurants in the 2023 Michelin Guide.
From Toledo, the prestigious Michelin Guide points out in its publication that Cocina Hermanos Torres, from Barcelona, and the Atrio restaurant, in Cáceres, have reached the haute cuisine podium, after receiving a new star that adds to the two already stood out.
The twins Sergio and Javier Torres, on the one hand, and the veteran chef Toño Pérez, thus join the 11 other places that have defended the Spanish tri-star in the kitchen.
In addition, the red guide points to many movements in the category, which lay the foundations for quality cuisine. Along with the three restaurant promotions that will now feature two stars, the Guide says up to 29 new Spanish establishments will have the honor of serving menus with culinary distinction on their covers for the first time.
In this sense, Michelin encourages gourmets to find “de new establishments with many chefs who have reached their professional maturity“, noting that critics have also praised the fact that the vast majority of these new cooks are young.
