Some 2,410 projects have been programmed between 2019 and 2021 in the Marrakech-Safi region, for a budget of around 1,257 million dirhams (MDH) and this, within the framework of the 3rd phase of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH), according to data communicated on Monday during a remote meeting of the Regional Human Development Committee (CRDH) of Marrakech-Safi.
Out of this total, 1,462 projects were 100% carried out concerning the four flagship programs of the INDH, namely: “Catching up the deficits in infrastructure and basic social services in under-equipped territories”, “Support for people in difficult situations. precariousness “,” Improvement of income and economic inclusion of young people “, and” Impulse of the human capital of the rising generations “, explained the CRDH during this meeting chaired by the wali of the Marrakech-Safi region, governor of the prefecture of Marrakech, Karim Kassi Lahlou, and devoted to the examination of the state of progress of the projects programmed within the framework of the 3rd Phase of the Initiative.
As part of program 1 “Catching up with deficits in infrastructure and basic social services in under-equipped territories”, a budget of MAD 304.9 million has been mobilized for the implementation of some 204 projects, aimed at strengthening infrastructure in the sectors of water, electricity and roads, as well as the improvement of services in the fields of education and health.
These interventions have thus enabled the generalization of drinking water services for the benefit of 4,261 households, the strengthening of the connection to the electricity network for the benefit of 24 villages, the improvement of the road network, the rehabilitation of health infrastructure, as well as the construction and equipment of new socio-sanitary structures (maternity homes, delivery homes and health centers, etc.).
Regarding program 3 “Improvement of income and economic inclusion of young people”, some 752 projects have been programmed for the benefit of 852 young people, for a total investment of 154 million dirhams, of which the INDH contribution amounts to 78 million dirhams. .
Concerning program 4 “Impulse of human capital of rising generations”, in particular the section relating to the generalization of quality preschool education in rural areas, some 839 preschool education units have been set up, while 365 other units have been set up. are under construction, for a budget of nearly 408 MDH. Ultimately, these units will have to accommodate some 21,846 learners, explains the same source. In order to help better fight against dropping out of school in rural and semi-urban areas, a project has been programmed with the aim of improving the skills and knowledge in French and mathematics of students in the third to sixth grade. primary education. Initially, this project targets 27,884 students in the region, for a budget of 34 million dirhams for each school year.
In the same vein, a budgetary envelope estimated at 63.86 MDH was allocated within the framework of the program of the Royal Initiative “One Million of Schoolbags”, for the school year 2021-2022, for the benefit of some 559,149 students.
The projects of the third phase of the INDH took into consideration other social groups in vulnerable situations, in particular people with renal failure, women in difficult situations, people with specific needs, abandoned children and children. the elderly…
366 projects, for a total amount of 200 million dirhams, including 187 million dirhams supported by the INDH, have been programmed relating to the creation of new social protection infrastructures, the rehabilitation of already existing units and their endowment with the necessary equipment. , in order to improve the reception and accommodation conditions of the targeted people.
During this remote meeting, Karim Kassi-Lahlou called on CRDH members to redouble their efforts to meet all the challenges, stressing the need to focus on the targeting criterion and adopt an innovative approach in the proposal for projects and this, in accordance with the orientation of INDH programs in its third phase (2019-2023), in particular projects aimed at promoting human capital, improving the related indicators and supporting vulnerable groups and needy.
For their part, CRDH members advocated taking into account the territorial specificities of the Marrakech-Safi region and promoting the qualitative orientation of the projects of the National Initiative for Human Development.
