2% increase in the producer price index in September

The producer price index of the “Manufacturing industries excluding petroleum refining” sector recorded an increase of 2% during the month of September 2021 compared to a month earlier, according to the High Commission for Planning (HCP) .

This increase is the result of the 3.3% rise in prices for “Food industries”, 6.4% for “Chemical industry”, 1.6% for “Metallurgy” and 0.3%. in the “Manufacture of electrical equipment”, explains the HCP in an information note relating to the price index for industrial energy and mining production (IPPIEM).

The note also specifies that this increase is due to the drop of 0.1% of prices in “Manufacture of other non-metallic minerals” and in “Manufacture of metal products, excluding machinery and equipment”.

In addition, the producer price indices for the “Extractive industries”, “Production and distribution of electricity” and “Production and distribution of water” sectors stagnated during the month of September 2021. .
