King Mohammed VI granted his pardon, on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, to 1,434 people sentenced by various courts in the Kingdom, some of whom are in detention and others at large, says a press release from the Ministry of Justice .
Here is the text of the press release:
“On the occasion of Eid Al Adha this year 1444 H – 2023 G, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God perpetuate His glory, kindly granted His Grace to a group of people sentenced by different courts of the Kingdom . These people number 1434 and are as follows:
* The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are in detention are 1189 detainees, broken down as follows:
– Pardon on the remainder of the sentence of imprisonment or reclusion for the benefit of 171 detainees.
– Remission of the sentence of imprisonment or reclusion for the benefit of 1,012 detainees.
– Commutation of the life sentence into time sentence for the benefit of 6 prisoners.
* The beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon who are free are 245 people, broken down as follows:
– Pardon on the prison sentence or its balance for the benefit of 86 people.
– Pardon on the prison sentence with maintenance of the fine for the benefit of 19 people.
– Pardon on the fine sentence for the benefit of 136 people.
– Pardon on the prison sentence and fine for the benefit of 3 people.
– Pardon on the fine and the remainder of the prison term for the benefit of a first person.
