The short fiction film “Page 81”, by its director Rachid El Hazmir, and the documentary “Damat Sraghna”, by director Safae Bendhiba, won the Grand Prize of the 11th edition of the Errachidia Film Festival which closed on Saturday.
In the national competition for short narrative film, the Prize for best production was awarded to the film “Le retour du regret”, directed by Ayoub Boudadi, that of the jury for the short film “Parfum”, by director Houcine Chani, while the Prize for best screenplay was awarded to the film “The Philosopher” by Abdellatif Fdil.
Regarding the national documentary competition, the Jury Prize was awarded ex-aequo to “Siap”, by Dounia Laaouina, and “86 days”, by directors Hassan Maanani and Mourad Khellou, while the Prize for best achievement was attributed to the documentary “Rhaya”, by Hanae Houider.
The 11th edition of the Errachidia Film Festival was organized, from November 17 to 20, by the Al Kabas association of cinema and culture, with the participation of a host of actors, directors, film critics and researchers.
The opening ceremony of this festival was marked by the vibrant tribute paid to director Ali Essafi, a way of saluting one of the most creative filmmakers in Morocco and who is also an artist and documentary maker in the history of African cinema.
A tribute was also paid to the actors Mohamed Rzine and Hamid Najah for their rich cinematographic career.
Ten short fiction films and as many documentaries have been selected to participate in the two official competitions of the Errachidia Film Festival.
The jury for the national short film competition was chaired by director Saad Chraibi and included artist Noura Skalli, critic Idriss Ajaidi and Osman Bisani as members, while the jury for the national documentary competition consisted of the director Mohamed Nazani (president) and directors Bouchaib Messaoudi and Mohamed Berkane.
