11 theatrical plays at the 16th International Theater and Culture Festival

Some 11 Moroccan and foreign theatrical plays dealing with different themes are scheduled for the program of the 16th edition of the International Theater and Culture Festival (FITC), scheduled for May 16-27 in Casablanca.

Initiated by the Living Arts Foundation in partnership with WECASABLANCA, this edition offers a rich and diversified program in different cultural spaces of the economic capital.

The “Théâtre Tensift” troupe opens the ball at the Mohamed Zafzaf Complex with its play “Sere7 mesjounek”. This piece brings together several names from the Moroccan art scene: Meryem Zaimi, Adil Abatourab, Mohammed El Ouaradi, Noura Skali and Abdellah Didane.

This edition also includes the shows “Les petits filles MODELS” by Rébecca Stella and “Le masque” by Naima Zitan, scheduled at the “Théâtre Center culturel Anfa”, as well as the play “Les jardins des secrets” by Mohamed Al Hor, produced by the Akoun troupe.

Among the plays programmed during this edition are “Chams” by director and scenographer Amin Boudrika, “Al Mataha” by Brahim Bouchelagem, “Selma Selim and the extraterrestrial” by Anwar Zahrawi, “l’Alchimiste” by Benjamin Bouzy , “the choice of souls” by Valérie Lesage, “the whole history of painting” by Hector Obalk and the “Cagnotte” by Eugène Labiche.

The festival will close on May 27 with the Moroccan play “Chatara” programmed at the Anfa Cultural Center Theater. The play is written by playwright Saïd Abarnous and directed by Amine Nassour. “Chatarra” deals with the situation of immigrant women, through the experience of three women: “Chani”, “Talia” and “Rabia”, abbreviated as “Chatara”.

This edition will also be marked by tributes to the artists Naima Bouhamala, Abdelilah Ajel and Hassan Foulane in recognition of their rich career and contribution to the promotion of the Moroccan theater scene.
