Tanger Med’s industrial platform recorded, in 2021, new private investments amounting to 1.2 billion dirhams (MMDH).
According to the Tanger Med group’s Q4-2021 newsletter, the group’s business areas recorded 1.2 billion dirhams of private investment, having enabled the realization of 28 new industrial projects by international players (Nippon Express, Ravago, Mondi , Boa, Sonofet…) and generated 4,397 new jobs. At the same time, 8 operational companies within the industrial platform have launched projects to extend their activities in 2021, while 8 new operators have started their activities in the port logistics zone of Tangier Med, with a view to ensuring the service of 40,000 m² of advanced supplier warehouses (MAF) dedicated to automotive logistics.
The same source specified that these private investments come from 14 countries, namely Morocco, Tunisia, Belgium, Spain, the United Kingdom, France, the United States, Italy, Ireland, Niger. , China, Portugal, Japan and Germany. The volume of business from Tanger Med’s business areas reached 92 billion dirhams in 2021, up 26% compared to 2020. For the automotive sector, it recorded a business volume of 62 billion dirhams , up 24% compared to 2020, while the other industrial sectors, in particular textiles and aeronautics, posted a business volume of 10 billion dirhams, up 11%.
Regarding the volume of business in the logistics sector, it reached 21 billion dirhams in 2021, up 46% year-on-year. This significant progress in the automotive sector is explained by the start of new projects in the “Tangier Automotive City” activity zone, the newsletter reported. Tanger Med’s industrial platform also recorded a significant change of 28% in the logistics flows created (including TIR trucks and containers). These flows amount to 413,905 units in 2021 (compared to 322,361 units in 2020) across all the activity zones of the Tanger Med industrial platform.
